County-by-County Resources

Most West Virginia counties are served by Family Support Centers (FSCs), which were established by the State to offer concrete support to families during times of need and as part of daily life. Services include parent education classes, child development activities, and after school and academic enrichment. All FSC's should offer a Resource Guide that lists the available supports and social services in each county.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, are traumatic events that occur during childhood, such as abuse and neglect. Research shows that ACEs can have lasting impacts on physical and mental health, learning, and relationships across the lifespan. The good news is: with protective environments, healing is possible. At Nurture WV, we focus on preventing ACEs and building resilience so every child has the opportunity to thrive.

By strengthening Protective Factors, we create a powerful buffer against the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences and promote health, stability, and resiliency for future generations.
