If you or someone you know could use support, we encourage you to reach out.

Advocacy for Kinship Families

We elevate the voices of kinship caregivers—grandparents, relatives, friends, and fictive kin—who are often overlooked in the child welfare system. Nurture WV provides advocacy and liaison services to help kinship families navigate support systems, access services, and be heard in decisions impacting the children in their care. We believe that when kin are empowered, children stay rooted in love, stability, and cultural identity.

Family Navigation & Resource Referral

Navigating services in West Virginia can be overwhelming, especially for families under stress. Nurture WV provides personalized support to help caregivers connect with essential services—whether that’s food, housing, mental health care, parenting classes, or legal aid. We serve as a bridge, not just pointing families toward resources, but walking alongside them with compassion and local insight.

Advocacy for Veterans and Their Families

As Nurture WV is owned by a U.S. Army veteran family, we honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and their loved ones. We know that transitioning from military service to civilian life can come with unique challenges — from accessing benefits and health care to securing housing, employment, and education. We provide tailored resources, referrals, and advocacy to help navigate these transitions, connect with the support they need, and build a stable, thriving future.

Community Education

Change begins with awareness. Through trainings, workshops, and outreach events, we educate communities about trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and the power of Protective Factors. Our educational programs aim to break cycles of adversity by building knowledge, empathy, and shared responsibility across schools, agencies, and neighborhoods.

Promoting Protective Factors

At the heart of our work is a commitment to strengthening families through the five Protective Factors: parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and children's social and emotional competence. We create opportunities for parent-to-parent connection to create support networks, reduce isolation, and foster the safe, stable, nurturing environments every child deserves.
